My Name is Nick, and I Played the Book

That was one of the two lines my little Nicky had in his Kindergarten Christmas program...the other was..."Please join us in celebrating the birth of our Savior"....

We had been helping him practice that line for two weeks. We'd practiced saying it LOUD and CLEAR with as much camoflauging of the little "L"'s and "R"'s speech problem as we could.....Every one of us must have heard him say it 100 times. Even Nathan was walking around the house practicing the line......

And YET when Nick took his place at the microphone and sheepishly said half his line into the microphone and then the other half while walking away back to his "X" on the carpet, Prince Charming turned to me and said,

"What did he say?"

Seriously???? I mean really hun...Can't you understand him?....He only has his mouth smashed against the microphone and a very "small" speech impediment...Sheesh...Psh...What is wrong with you???" Shouldn't you be able to understand your own son??? ☺

NOT TO MENTION.... He's been saying it for two weeks!

Well, Brian thinks he did a great job! Bravo, Bravo, Encore, Encore!
What a sweet little face
He was BY FAR the best "Book"...seriously, I'm not biased or anything! REALLY!
OK. So here he is ..Waiting in line for his chance at the microphone, and his moment in the sun!

And then they all sang a bunch of songs...All the bells and the books and the trees and the stars and the shepherds......Nothing sweeter than the sound of children's voices....Well except maybe for that one girl who played the star....Not sure why the music teacher put her right there front and center---We all decided she is tone deaf and LOUD...☺You know... They sang songs like Silent Night and Oh Christmas Tree.. and The 12 Days of Christmas...and they even did a little dancing and some righteous moves......
*
5 GOOOOLDEN RINGS! He's looking extremely enthusiastic huh!
4 Calling Birds.......ohh! He really likes being a Calling Bird!!! Or maybe it's because he gets to do..............
THIS next........Three French Hens.....
2 Turtledoves.....
and (according to how Nick sang the song on the way to school that day)
A bear in a peach tree..
What the heck is a partridge anyway?
His way sounds more exciting to me! Way to improvise Nick!

Here is Nick with his homeboys.....there are only 6 kids in his class....5 boys, one girl...and three wore argyle...what are the odds? All those other kids (above) are in the All Day Kindergarten class.....(in case you were wondering)

Enthusiastic two thumbs up! And your narrative along with the pictures made it all come to life! The bear in a peach tree is hilarious - gotta love their reasoning skills. And look at his smile - he loves his friends!

Way to make a music teacher proud!!! (I'm the music teacher, of course!). : ) I LOVED this post... mostly because I just played for a 2nd grade concert tonight and witnessed everything you're talking about... especially the "saying half of their lines in the microphone, the rest while they're walking away" part. Kids just don't get it! And I LOVE you dogging on the tone deaf girl - haha!!! I would NEVER put her front and center either!

And seriously, how did your husband not know what he said?? Silly husbands!!! : )

Those programs are so cute. My son's school does not do them until they are in 3rd grade so we have yet to go to a choir concert or anything...I am anxiously waiting!

Also, I mentioned that we have the same sweaters...I think Argyle has cornered the market this year!!!

Way to go cutie pie. Remembering lines is hard!

Ohhhhh, Liz!! This post warmed my heart.

Why? You ask?
Your handsome little men dressed so sweetly.
Your little guy up to the microphone.
The fact that he has a presumable adorable speech impediment--like my little guy.

Do you feel like the most blessed mama in the world???? Do you????
