A Christmas Story

Well, I was gonna come up with some cute little poem to show off all of our Christmas pictures, but I'm just too tired from staying up for the last 5 nights until 3 a.m. painting bedrooms and cleaning and recovering my house from Christmas!.........but here are the pictures anyway!

Waiting on the "Lake Santa"---

We always go to my parents house on Christmas Eve. They live on a lake and every year Santa comes by on a boat and gives the kids "stockings" of choking hazards like hard candy and small toys....The kids LOVE it and it is one of the highlights of Christmas for my boys....just as it was for me growing up ☺

Please, please don't fall in the lake Santa!

Do those smiles look real?
Or do you think there might be a little fear in those smiles?
Papa reading the Christmas story to the kids whilst we wait for Santa to arrive....Again a family tradition. It has been passed down from my Gramma to my mom to me and now to my kids...
Seriously....how sweet is this?
Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus right down Santa Claus Lane The Stairs. The boys aren't scared of this Santa (shhhh...it's Uncle Dave)

You got something for me in that bag Santa?
Notice my niece totally cracking up in the background!
Brian and Gramma H!
Alex and Grandma N.
Is it a tiny Foosball table or a gaggle of giant children???
Christmas Morning----
Why exactly are we up this early????--
Nathan and his stocking.
Alex and Nick--- a little bedhead and a golf glove.
.......and a little more bedhead!

Word Fillled Wednesday--Brian's Baptism

The purpose of Word filled Wednesday is to share God’s word (no famous quotes or other literature — only the beautiful word of our Father) through photo’s & a Bible verse!

Mark 10:14-16

14But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said to them, "“Allow the little children to come to me! Don’t forbid them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.15 Most certainly I tell you, whoever will not receive the Kingdom of God like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.”"16 He took them in his arms, and blessed them, laying his hands on them.

Not Me Monday

It's that time again! Time to be brutally honest about my life....and live to tell about it!

So here are the things I haven't done this week....

I did not miss last week's Not Me Monday because I have not lost all track of time...Since my husband had his surgery and has been home most of the time I have not completely lost the inability to know what day it is....because they days are not running together....

I did not tell my husband that since he can not help with much else around the house with his cast on, that it is now his job to fold the laundry---tee hee!
*I KNEW if I worked hard enough I would eventually find myself a laundry lady!

I did not knock my butt onto the ground after hitting my head with the back gate of our SUV while closing it in the parking lot at Wal Mart....not a single person saw me do it, and certainly none of them snickered as they walked by while I sat on the ground wondering if I needed stitches or hospitalization for a concussion....and if I did do that it was certainly the first time I had done it.....because to do that more than once would just be ridiculous! Seriously who closes a door on their own head????

I did not just paint my oldest son's room yellow and purple because those are girls colors.

I did not make my husband crutch himself all over the mall to do some Christmas shopping because that would be too exhausting for him.....and if by some chance we did actually go to the mall, he certainly did not carry a single bag.

I did not let my boys watch the movie "The Sand Lot" and they are not now calling their friends L 7 Weenie's.......and they are not telling everyone they know that they "play ball like a girl".....because that would be totally irresponsible of me to allow my young children to be exposed to a movie that would teach them those things.

I did not ask my mom to watch the boys while we went Christmas shopping and then upon returning to my parents house decide that we had better leave all of the gifts at their house so the boys wouldn't see them......I also didn't leave all of the wrapping paper that we bought at her house along with the gifts in hopes that she would wrap all the gifts....This morning she didn't tell me that she had wrapped up their gifts...and I certainly wasn't happy because I LOVE wrapping gifts.....☺ thanks Mom!

I am not at all happy that I don't have one single poop story to share with you all this week....yippee!

I am not going to miss the annual "see how many times you can throw the ball back and forth without it hitting the ground" game with my baby brother (he's 23) this Christmas because he won't be home for Christmas this year......nope I'm not gonna miss anything about him being gone at all!

I am not at all excited to be spending the first Christmas at our own home in Oklahoma in 4 years! yippppeeeeee!

What did ya'll not do this week?????

God Bless You!

A little hiatus

Well I've taken a little hiatus from blogging...it's actually been a week.....Did you think I disappeared?

I have been moving the boys bedrooms around....I moved Nathan out of Brian's room and he is now bunking with Nick....Brian kept waking up Nathan about 4 a.m. and although we don't get up with Brian (he's just making noise...not really awake) we kept seeing Nathan in our bed every night! It is a lot of work moving clothes and beds etc....It reminds me why I never want to move again!

Well, and OF COURSE...I've been Christmas shopping! I can't believe Christmas will be here in less that a week...AHHHHHH! I'm about 3/4 of the way done with all my Christmas shopping....I've left all of the "hard" people to buy for, for last.....☺

I have also been painting all of the boys rooms......You would think I was nesting or something...

Alex's room is a golden yellow color....and his furniture is dark purple....doesn't sound like a boys room does it!
His room---if I ever finish painting it---(I'm on the third coat right now..ugh...) is going to be a Minnesota Vikings room.....I am using the Home Depot sports paint colors for his walls and furniture. He has a GIANT 6 foot FatHead of Adrian Peterson (running back for the Vikings and former OU football star).....AND Alex's sports hero...which will go on the wall when I'm finished with the painting...His comforter is charcoal gray and has a Viking patch in the middle and his curtains will match.....When I'm finished I will post pictures...

Nick and Nathan's room is going to be an OU football room....The bottom half of the wall will be a green football field, then a red stripe, and then cream at the top. They have a OU helmet Fat Head that will go on the cream part of the wall.

Brian's room is going to be sage green and dusty blue with a turtle and frog theme.....His will be the last one I finish....

Pictures will follow...probably in a couple of weeks!

In case I don't get back to blog before Christmas...I hope you all have a blessed one and that you are surrounded by everyone that you love!

My Name is Nick, and I Played the Book

That was one of the two lines my little Nicky had in his Kindergarten Christmas program...the other was..."Please join us in celebrating the birth of our Savior"....

We had been helping him practice that line for two weeks. We'd practiced saying it LOUD and CLEAR with as much camoflauging of the little "L"'s and "R"'s speech problem as we could.....Every one of us must have heard him say it 100 times. Even Nathan was walking around the house practicing the line......

And YET when Nick took his place at the microphone and sheepishly said half his line into the microphone and then the other half while walking away back to his "X" on the carpet, Prince Charming turned to me and said,

"What did he say?"

Seriously???? I mean really hun...Can't you understand him?....He only has his mouth smashed against the microphone and a very "small" speech impediment...Sheesh...Psh...What is wrong with you???" Shouldn't you be able to understand your own son??? ☺

NOT TO MENTION.... He's been saying it for two weeks!

Well, Brian thinks he did a great job! Bravo, Bravo, Encore, Encore!
What a sweet little face
He was BY FAR the best "Book"...seriously, I'm not biased or anything! REALLY!
OK. So here he is ..Waiting in line for his chance at the microphone, and his moment in the sun!

And then they all sang a bunch of songs...All the bells and the books and the trees and the stars and the shepherds......Nothing sweeter than the sound of children's voices....Well except maybe for that one girl who played the star....Not sure why the music teacher put her right there front and center---We all decided she is tone deaf and LOUD...☺You know... They sang songs like Silent Night and Oh Christmas Tree.. and The 12 Days of Christmas...and they even did a little dancing and some righteous moves......
*
5 GOOOOLDEN RINGS! He's looking extremely enthusiastic huh!
4 Calling Birds.......ohh! He really likes being a Calling Bird!!! Or maybe it's because he gets to do..............
THIS next........Three French Hens.....
2 Turtledoves.....
and (according to how Nick sang the song on the way to school that day)
A bear in a peach tree..
What the heck is a partridge anyway?
His way sounds more exciting to me! Way to improvise Nick!
*
*
Here is Nick with his homeboys.....there are only 6 kids in his class....5 boys, one girl...and three wore argyle...what are the odds? All those other kids (above) are in the All Day Kindergarten class.....(in case you were wondering)

Thankful Thursday! The Completely Crazy Christmas Card Edition...

It took almost 150 snaps of my camera...... along with some "raspberries".....
yep....cute huh!
some serious thumb sucking and then of course some cheek pullinghere's a close up in case you missed it......
Also some hair pulling......
Seriously---can we just not touch each other for 5 cotton pickin' minutes???? at least one monkey face.....
Lots and lots and lots of screaming.........and a little bit of garland in the face.....

But I am soooo THANKFUL----on this Thankful Thursday---- that we finally got ONE picture that was somewhat "Card Worthy" and that I don't have to repeat the dressing of 4 boys, begging them to smile photo taking session again! ugh!...Good job to my little guys and Merry Christmas to you all!
