I love my best friends....My #1 best friend is my husband....but I also have 4 best friends who also call me "sister", bff's from childhood, those from college, and those I have met in recent years...A best friend is hard to find....I am lucky enough to have several best girlfriends who I can confide in, feel comfortable with in every way, who I can talk to for hours on end and don't even know a minute has past, and who most of all love me for who I am....I have been blessed beyond measure!

To make things even better, I have a best friend who moved in to my neighborhood a month ago. She lives one street over, has 3 amazing babies, and brings so much joy to my life! Here we are with ALL of our babies at the zoo....What a fun time in my life...I'm trying not to blink...I don't want it to be over!

These last two weeks have been nuts....With 4 of the boys playing baseball and 3 of the boys playing football, it seems like we never have a night without some kind of sporting event......and games haven't even started yet! I love it, and wouldn't have it any other way, but it sure does make our lives crazy, crazy, crazy BUSY!

Kate has officially given up her binky! We started taking it away during the day, and then a 4 days ago took it away at nighttime....she was not extremely happy with me..LOL!.... She has gone to bed the last two nights without any crying! I am so happy to be able to see her sweet smiling face ALL the time now!

Brian is still doing great in pre-school...I was afraid the excitement would wear off and he would go back to his old ways, but he hasn't shed a tear and is so excited to go to school every time!

I started a boot camp class on Wednesday.....I am going back tomorrow...It kicked my booty, to say the least! but as a friend keeps telling me...No Pain, No Gain!

College football season officially starts this Saturday!...I can hardly wait to be sitting in the stands! Boomer Sooner!

The 3 big boys ready for their first days of 4th grade, 2nd grade, and Kindergarten. Ready and smiling for a new year.

Brian on his first day of pre-school...He was a little less excited than his brothers, but did great. I've been a nervous wreck all summer waiting for school to start. He's a ~~little~~ lot bit of a mama's boy. Has a hard time being away from me...and tends to cry a ~~little~~ a lot when I leave him...but God put him in the hands of the perfect teachers, and he went in without a tear. I left in such relief that I couldn't keep the tears from flowing....Such a blessing to find teachers who love your kids the way you do!

After 9 very hot hours in almost 100 degree heat on Sunday, the Sliders's took home a 1st place trophy!!!----Tourney Champs!!!..Things are starting to wind down on baseball season...and just in time for really hot temperatures......well.....except this week..We have 13 games this week! But next week we'll be sitting pretty in the pool!

I have gone through times in my life where I really felt the need to write "stuff" down...Then I go through short (or long) times where I dread the thought of even taking the time to write....Then I start feeling guilty about all the things I have missed by not writing...and then I get overwhelmed by what I haven't documented and I just can't get started.....It's a vicous circle!

So, I have decided that all this stress and guilt has got to stop. I have decided to just write when I feel like writing and not feel guilty when I don't.....those little spaces in time when I'm not blogging will just have to be little gaps.. Over a lifetime those little gaps will not even be noticed. So here I go....maybe for a day...maybe a week, maybe even a month...we shall see....

No Snow Day

There is a dusting of snow at our house....

but not enough for sledding :*(

All 4 boys got sleds for Christmas. They can't wait to use them. In fact, they pulled out the sleds last night in anticipation of a snow day. When they awoke this morning I could hear them rattling around the windows looking for piles and piles of snow. They were definitely disappointed. It's snowing as I write, so maybe by this afternoon there will be enough for a little sledding and sliding!

So I thought I would join in this week...Here ya go!

1. Do you open presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
Both! We have a big celebration on Christmas Eve with my family, my husbands' family, and all the uncles, aunts, and cousins. Either Papa, one of the Uncles, or the Hubs dresses up as Santa and brings his big bag of toys to the kids (gifts are from the family--not Santa ha!). We have our big dinner on Christmas Eve and do all of our extended family celebrating that night...

On Christmas Day, Santa brings the presents. We spend time just as our "little" family in our jammies...I usually make a breakfast casserole and we just hang out and let the kids play with their new toys. Last year we went sledding that afternoon...but we don't often have a white Christmas.

2. What is your favorite Christmas cookie (or candy)?

My favorite all time cookies are sugar cookies with frosting...yum yum...and for candy...FUDGE...

Oh my!

Dieting til Christmas so I can eat my weight in both ;)

3. What's the worst Christmas gift you've ever received?

I am TRULY not one of those people who gets upset about the gifts they receive and whether or not they live up to my standards...I truly believe the other person tried their hardest to get me something thoughtful....On top of that, I don't even care about receiving gifts...so I'm no fun for this question.

4. Christmas song that you love?
This would have to be "Silent Night"....It always makes me think about Mary . What was going on in her mind as she held my Savior in her arms, kissed his sweet little head, and breathed in His new baby smell? Tear up almost every time I hear it.

5. How many trees do you put up?

This varies from year to year....this year it is two...one for upstairs and one for down...We have our big tree in the living room and a smaller one in the upstairs loft for the kids....neither one of them have ornaments on the lower 1/3 ;)

P-E-A-C-E

I can't remember what was going through my mind when I bought those "PEACE" stocking holders almost 12 years ago, but I obviously had more foresight at 24 years old than I gave myself credit for.... I bought them shortly after the Hubs and I got married.....I bought them before we even started discussing baby #1...but somehow,

I knew....

Every year I would take them out of the Christmas box and look at them. I thought about putting them up after Nathan was born and getting some stockings for the Hubs and I...

But I didn't.

I waited

I waited until last year, when we finally had enough stockings to fill them up.......I've always known I wanted a big family....I've always known one way or the other we would fill up each of those letters. Even way back then....before I knew where life was going to take us....I knew.

Those stocking holders aren't even my style anymore...I'm all about rod iron and dark wood...and these are a bright silver...( I have 4 AWESOME rod iron snowflake ones that I love!)...But when you have held on to them for close to 12 years waiting to use them.....well,....you use them. Maybe next year I'll spray paint them black or change them in some way....but for now..I love sitting in front of that fireplace looking at ALL those names and remembering the wonderful, exciting, fulfilling years it has taken to fill them up...

My littlest boy is three today....We had his party on Saturday...He loved blowing out his candles and really loved opening gifts..We had his favorites for dinner...Spaghetti and chocolate cake with m and m's!!
Brian has a very sweet disposition. He is our shy guy and takes a little while to warm up to people. BUT once he's warmed up, he'll love you like no other!!!! He is so calm and quiet and happy all, well, most of the time. Brian is very funny and has a contagious giggle. He is an extremely polite little boy...He very rarely misses a "please" or "thank-you" and often adds an "I love you mommy", or "can I have a hug" to the end. Brian is a little more cautious than his brothers (and his sister for that matter)....You won't find him climbing to the top of trees or doing flips off the diving board (which his brothers were doing by this age)... He enjoys the role of "baby" despite actually having a baby sister, and sometimes uses that to his advantage :) He loves his siblings like crazy. He has beautiful sparkly brown eyes, gorgeous thick wavy hair, and is definitely a handsome little guy.
Brian CAN recognize most of the letters of the alphabet and sing his ABC's. He can count to 15 and loves to do puzzles. Brian can hit a ball off the tee with perfect form and can hit a ball out of the air when thrown to him!!! He can punt a ball like no kid I have every seen. Brian writes and throws right handed, but does anything that requires sporting equipment with his left hand (ie bats left handed, golfs left handed)...He can ride his new scooter like a pro, catch a ball in the air almost every time, and throw a pretty good spiral with the football...Brian is totally potty trained (even at night)....

Brian is, without a doubt, the sweetest three year old I know, and he has his mama's heart wrapped around his finger! I am so proud to call him my son! Oh how I love my littlest boy!!!!

Sweet brian will be "3" on the 7th...he shares a birthday with one of my best friends Christy and of course with Pearl Harbor Day...which will forever make me laugh because it's the first thing my Daddy told me when I spoke with him after Brian was born...he also shares a name with my brother....more of a tribute to come later!!!

Finished my Christmas Card...and for free! well..minus s/h...I love how it turned out, and love that is a folded card so it's easier for people to display. I never know what to do with flat cards...Kate has a little snot in one of the pictures...but I have gone beyond trying to be perfect...:) Just glad someone is smiling in most of the pictures! Now to get them here and address them and mail them....ugh...my least favorite part...maybe I'll make the hubs do that job this year :0)

My family...They are all flopped out on my couch watching a little football....eating the leftovers, and being funny. So proud are we of my nephew for his second place finish in the 11 and under leauge...They played this past Sunday for the Championship and just barely got edged out.

I've blogged about this before, "P" is a hero to my boys....They talked all the way home about how many times they heard is name on the loud speaker, and "did you see that catch". etc etc. etc....glad his season and Pee Wee career ended on such a high note....on to Middle School football now!!! Great job buddy!!!

As I passed by the T.V. this morning I heard a woman say....

"Don't Just go Grabbing Things all Willy Nilly"

Needless to say, it caught my attention. Maybe or maybe not for the reasons you think.......ahem
.
Turns out, it was a very serious segment on the "Today Show" about "How to Survive Black Friday"
(You Know, because "Grabbing things all Willy Nilly" can be a life or death situation ..AND you definitely need a whole segment on the subject AND and a survival guide to make it through! The unfortunate woman assigned to do the report actually used the term "Willy Nilly" TWICE during the interview....poor thing....somebody should have given her the "Cut it out" sign after the first time she said it....)

I digress...

I didn't have time to sit down and listen to all of the brilliant advice, so I went to the "Today Show" website ( I like to be thorough) and found an article called "Brave Black Friday Wisely", where the author gives you 10 tips for how to survive Black Friday unscathed.

WOW!!!!

Really? We need a survival guide for how to shop...and how to be "brave" while doing it? Don't get me wrong...I ~~like~~ love to shop, and I definitely like a good deal....BUT, Not even once have I asked God for bravery before a trip to "Toys R Us".

Maybe the survival guide should read a little more like this:

"How to avoid being trampled on, or thrown over the toy aisle as you dive for the last Zhu Zhu Pet"

Now that is something I could use.

I for one am going to avoid the long lines, rude, pushy people, and overcrowded, claustrophobic stores....In fact I am going to participate in the "Buy Nothing Day" on Facebook sponsored by AdBusters

BUT

before the wrestling match begins in our bed on Sunday mornings, there are about 5 minutes of the most wonderful sweet snuggling bliss....with all 7 of us in the bed, cuddled up together, enjoying each other. A baby girl's head on my chest, 4 boys snuggled up next to and between the hubs and I. Laying there

.....in complete silence......

for about five minutes...

and these are five of my favorite minutes of the week...
no other day do we have the time.
every other day we are up out of bed early and going and moving...like an army of ants.

but on Sunday's, before it's time to get up and ready for church, we get 5 of the sweetest minutes of my week....and it makes me wonder why we don't take the time to slow down more often.....

and then somebody elbows me in the nose.

Alex's football team ended up in 4th place. 1st place through 4th place got trophy's....Needless to say the boys were VERY excited!!! They had a party to celebrate their season and accomplishments!

I'm so excited for Thanksgiving week! It is definitely one of my favorite times of the year. My kids are out of school on Wednesday, and it's just enough time to enjoy them and not so much time that they will all be fighting! :)
I am hosting Thanksgiving at my house this year. I love to entertain...I have become much less stressed about it over time. Perfection used to be my motto....now I've decided that I'm too busy raising my kids to be the ideal mother/wife/hostess. :)
The Hubs Gramma is in the country and will be here for Thanksgiving day...My baby brother and his girlfriend are flying in from Rhode Island, and we can't wait to see them! Plus we are getting to see relatives on my dad's side of the family we haven't seen in Years! It's going to be a WONDERFUL week....

PLUS...bedlam football is on Saturday....

The hubs and I are going to try to do some remodeling in our laundry room over the next couple of weeks. We need a better system for the kids bags/coats/lunchboxes, etc. than we currently have now. Today I am thankful for Shutterfly and their "50 free Holiday Cards Promotion"

If you have been reading my blog for awhile you will know that I am a Shutterfly fanatic. I do all my prints, Digital scrapbooking, calendars and Christmas cards through them. Here is one example of the scrapbooks I make, and have printed through Shutterfly. I actually make my pages using another program, but have them printed through Shutterfly because, in my opinion, the quality of their product is superior!

I also love to use their calendar program and make holiday gifts for my mother and mother-in-law. They have a bunch of new calendar options I can't wait to work with this year.

They have a variety of holiday cards, Christmas cards and birthday invites that I use every year. They have a price point for everybody and again the product they put out is exceptional.

Here is the card I am currently working on for Christmas. I love the colors and options I have available to me....

Finally, I would like to talk about their customer service. It is exceptional. Several months ago I ordered my Spring album from them. I messed up (late at night) and sent the order in before I was actually finished (and didn't realize I had done that). The book came with several blank pages. I called Shutterfly fully expecting them to say, "Sorry, your mistake, too bad." But they didn't say that....They said, "Send the album back to us and we will print out a new one for you, no extra cost, no questions asked." They were totally understanding and KIND....It totally SHOCKED me (which I have to say is a little sad---I had very low expectations going in based on other experiences with OTHER companies)....I didn't even know what to say...the lady on the phone probably thought I was crazy..I just kept saying, thank-you, you are amazing, wow I love you!

Funny funny Brian

Brian is a funny little guy with a contagious laugh. Nick made a headdress at school while studying the Incan culture. Brian decided he was going to wear it (in his underwear) and dance around the house....He was hilarious, and thought himself so hilarious he ended up lying on the ground belly laughing....I love when they are still young enough to not feel self conscious and can dance around in their underwear in a paper hat without holding back. :) Wish that time lasted longer!

Happy Monday!

This blogging every day things has been a challenge, but I have made it halfway through the month of Na Blo Po Mo and haven't missed a day!!! It's been great getting back in touch with my blog and keeping up with some of my bloggy friends!

TMI warning: (skip this part if you don't want to read about potty stuff)

We are in the process of potty training #4.....halfway there with that too :) He has become consistent with #1, but #2 is a whole 'nother story!....He has gone a couple of times in the potty and once he even went and sat on it by himself and pooped (but he was naked at the time, and we think that is why)...but more times than not, he is going in his underwear......
Any ideas as to how to encourage the #2 thing??....We have never really had one that went past a couple of days before getting the WHOLE idea, (as a matter of fact, Nathan pooped consistently before pee)...anyway, any ideas would be fab....
sorry that was way too much info....but you were warned! :)---and hey, I did spare you any pictures! HA

Alex and Nick had their football playoffs last week....Nick's team got second place, and Alex's team lost in the semi-finals.....Alex was a little disappointed (more that the season was over than anything else)....and Nick got a trophy...so he was THRILLED!!!...Now it's on to basketball!

The hubby and I got to go to Parent teacher conferences last week....We feel so blessed to have three AMAZING teachers instructing our children this year.....Each one of them has such special gifts...I think we were most pleased by how well each of the teachers knew our children....not just academically, but they had a real understanding of their personalities, their strengths and weaknesses, and just the little nuances about them that many don't take the time to learn......I know from experience that is not always the case, and thank God every day that He put our children in such outstanding hands for the time we are away from them!!

Alex was in his school music program last week....It was on Nov. 11th (Veteran's Day) and was a tribute to Veteran's...It was a really marvelous program. (Yet another reason we love our school....stupendous music teacher!!) Alex had a line and sang and danced on stage with his class. We have pretty much decided he should stick with sports..(not that he didn't do a great job, he did remarkable)...but he looked at me during the performance and rolled his eyes at least 4 times while dancing.....HA!

Well I think that about covers last week....needless to say it was a busy week....(4 football games, a school program, parent/teacher conferences, and I finished two Christmas dresses for Kate! shew!!!)....Good thing it was daylight savings and I felt like I got an extra bit of time every day!!!

OH...and I almost forgot!!! Got a call from school last Tuesday and Nathan had fallen and split his head open....had to take him for staples..gotta go have them taken out today.

Ready for this week to start!!! Yippee...here we go!

My boys are eating Thanksgiving lunch at school today......They are so excited...It's a little different than when WE were little...Mashed potatoes have been replaced by sweet potatoes and a wheat roll instead of white...but I think that milk box is exactly the same :)

That is me in the middle in first grade and my little brother Brian to the right of me.....and my neighbor friend to the left.....ahhhh... The memories!!

Those mud brown eyes melt my heart....
It's amazing the little things about them that are the same....eye color, hair color, face shape, teeth, feet, skin color, body shape....they almost match up pound for pound and height-wise perfectly on the growth charts....they look so much the same......

But
The funny thing is they couldn't be more different!!! That's what I love about my big family...all different personalities living together and loving each other....Learning from one another how to be a better person, and becoming the best of friends......

This coming week will mark the end of both their seasons....I am SO incredibly proud of them....They have shown great sportsmanship, great effort, and great improvement....They make their mama (and daddy) proud every single time they step on the field....Their love of the game is evident every minute of the game. Great season boys. Good Luck in the playoffs!

I could have stayed 29 forever, but regardless, time marches on.....
No longer the early thirties...
A few more gray hairs...and a few more wrinkles...

BUT

everything seems to be getting better with time....
I love my husband
I love my family.
I love my life.

I've never been happier.......
even if I am on the downhill slide to 40...it's a really fun twisting, twirling slide full of giggles and laughs and love.....and I'm looking forward to the ride.

I used to do "Thankful Thursday" every Thursday....and not that I don't have enough to be thankful for every Thursday of the year, but November seems like the perfect month to do a Monthful of "Thankful Thursdays!"....So here ya go........

#10 I am addicted to "The Biggest Loser." I don't even mind when they cry...and sometimes I actually cry along with them..YUCK

#9 I hate to wear socks with my tennis shoes. Partly because I am too lazy to put on socks...OK OK completely because I am too lazy to put on socks....(I know that is some serious laziness)

#8 I could live on rice krispy treats, jellybeans, and diet Dr. Pepper.

#7 I am the biggest procrastinator you will ever meet. I generally cannot get anything done unless I am under a time crunch.

#6 I secretly would like to take some photography classes and then open my own photography and scrapbooking business.

#5 Because of the movie "Poltergeist", I still cannot go to bed with any closets open. I have to check my kids bedroom closets to make sure they are closed before I can go to bed.

#4 I have broken my toe, my leg, my finger, my wrist, and my collarbone and I have had two sets of stitches

#3 My nickname growing up was Lou Lou Brown.

#2 When my kids are grown I want to sell my house and live out of an RV while traveling around the U.S. and Canada.

It was homecoming this weekend at our Alma mater (Oklahoma). We took the entire family down to Norman to participate in the festivities. We went to the Homecoming Parade, had a great time with friends and family, and watched some great football! Here are a few pictures of the kids sporting the crimson and cream. BOOMER SOONER!

My #4 (Brian) apparently needs to spend a little more time watching his daddy shave, and a little less time with his mommy.....because every time he is in the shower he hikes his little leg onto the shower wall to "shabe his wegs" with his razor.

Seriously...she can hear the door open from two rooms away and comes running to climb onto the door......

*Thirdly-----she LOVES to see how fast she can unroll the T.P. before I catch her....you have never seen a girl more frantic to get toilet paper off a roll ;)

She can climb out of her crib...If you remember this post....you know she has been a climber her whole life-- She has been able to climb UP the slides at the park for a couple of months now.....I mean seriously steep slides....
Let me tell you the first time I found that out I had to scurry my little buns up the slide too....and it's a lot harder than it looks---but you don't want your 10 month old/1 year old wandering around at the top!!!!!

On to my #2...Nicky....the poor guy inherited my scatterbrain....I can't tell you how many times I have had to take something up to him at school this year.....

This morning he was going crazy because he couldn't find his library book---the library book with the POLAR BEAR on the cover...He swore up and down he had left it on the dining room table.....I saw His papers on the table, and then threw them away....so figuring I threw away the book with them, I went through the trash looking for his book......NO BOOK! We looked all over the house for 20 minutes...he blamed every sibling for losing/stealing his book.....then we found it.....in his bed.....y/k right where he left it last night after reading...:)----and there was no POLAR BEAR..........there was a CAMEL on the cover! LOL

The boys get a folder home every Monday with the lasts weeks papers and newsletters from the PTO and teachers etc..... It's a lot of stuff.....For the last 2 years I have gotten #1s (Alex's) folder home....it was so perfect and neat...separated into sections....all nice and neat......Nick's papers keep coming home all stuffed in the folder....half of the papers sticking out the top and sides and totally crinkled up and just a complete mess.....Finally, I asked him who the helper was that was putting the papers in his folder like that (I assumed because Alex's was so neat, that there were parent helpers or some other adult that came up and put the papers in)----he said "I do it"....Then I asked Alex who does his....he said "I do, and always have".......AHEM.....

Finally....#3(Nathan)--- 5 days IN A ROW now, his teacher has reported on an injury (very minor) he had gotten on the playground....I think he is going for some kind of record.... :)

Nater Potater

This boys makes me smile.....and pull my hair out. ☺

Our sweet Nathan is going to turn 5 in a couple of weeks. 5 seems like such a big number. Every time one of the boys has hit that number it blows me away how fast they are growing up.

Nathan is our outgoing, spunky, funny, athletic little guy, who beats to his own drummer....and also likes to beat drums in his spare time. If you'll remember he got a set of drums for his 4th birthday....and he has pretty much drummed them to death! Did I mention he is outgoing??? Seriously, he will walk up to any kid, no matter the age, on the playground and ask their name, shake their hand, and ask them to play.......He's just like his Daddy.....not a shy bone in his body!

I call him Nater Potater, or Tater....

He loves baseball, loves school (pre-k)...THANK GOD!..because until this year he hasn't been much of a fan of anything school related. Wouldn't even attempt to write his name until right before school started ...but he has blossomed this year and I don't think it will be long before he starts reading!!...

He is mature well beyond his years....he has been talking (continuously, ahem) since he was 9 months old, and people always think he is older than he is....which is funny because he is a little guy...seriously LITTLE...we're hoping he hits 35 pounds for his 5th birthday! :)

This boy loves babies...he is going to be a great Daddy one day. He has been COMPLETELY smitten with his "Little Princess" since the day she was born, and still is. He was like that with Brian too....We kept thinking..."Oh, it will wear off...he won't want to hold the baby 75 times a day forever." WRONG......he is just craaaazy about them and I just love how he lights up when his babies are around....

Nathan can....ride a bike without training wheels, swim without floaties, hit a baseball off the tee into the outfield (in the air!), roll his tongue and flip it over (it's something to see...actually all my kids can do it--weird), write his name with perfect penmanship, run REALLY fast, do a flip off the diving board, and melt his mama's heart with his smile....

Fall is ~~HERE~~ in my neck of the woods....OR maybe not.......it's gonna be 92 degrees today, and the forecast looks like its gonna be in the 90's for eternity....but in hopes I can magically change that, I have been decorating for fall! I decorated my blog in fall colors and I am working on decorating my house...I LOVE fall....the colors, the crunch of leaves, the smells, the cool air, FOOTBALL, sweatshirts, pumpkins..... Everything about it I LOVE LOVE LOVE!.....

My home decorating leans towards fall colors...I don't have a lot of blues, pinks, or light colors.....lots of reds, oranges, browns, and golden yellows adorn my walls and furnishings.....Thus when fall decorating comes along, I love to accent my current scheme with all things fall!

I have been working on my mantle.....I haven't decided if I like it or not....I usually tweak things continuously, but here is what I have so far!

My sweet MIL let me borrow a laptop of hers and now I am back online!....And just in time for Kate's birthday party....Our little Katybug turned one yesterday and we had a ladybug birthday party today.....it was exhausting and fun...She loved the cake and carrying around the boxes of presents.....She looked adorable in her tutu......What a blessing she is! So fun to experience the girl side of things.....was our first event with pink wrapping paper! :)

Kate likes cake----in retrospect a red cake may not have been the best idea....by the end she looked like she was covered in blood...my brother kept making references to Dances with Wolves---y/k when he eats the buffalo heart....HA!

I think that is what the "computer geek" called it....

My computer is dead...dust...forever gone....needless to say I haven't been doing much blogging lately....y/k in my dead computer depression....I am able to use my kids "netbook"...which I hate because the screen is too small and the keyboard stinks...but at least it's something until I can get a new computer.....just hope those geeks can get some of my stuff off the hard drive!!!

Lesson learned....

VACATION

Prince Charming and I took the fam. on a week long trip to Southern California. It was a good, albeit, cold trip. I'm not complaining about the cold...just sayin', Especially since it was over 100 degrees here today! We spent several days in O.C. (now that I've been there I guess I can call it that!) and a couple of days in San Diego. We went to the San Diego Zoo, Sea World (where our new stroller was stolen)..., and lots of days at the beach. We got to spend a lot of quality time with Prince Charming's family (they live in O.C.) and the kids and I had an amazing time getting to know them better. All the kids really loved the ocean and esp. loved Sea World... Here a few, ahem...(or a L-O-T) of pics of our time on the West Coast.

Miss Kate at 9 months

Miss Kate is 9 months old! She can crawl like a champ, pull up and cruise, and can climb stairs. She is thinking about letting go of one piece of furniture to take a step to another...but hasn't quite gotten there yet! She has two teeth on the bottom and two brand new teeth on the top. She is finally getting some hair and has the cutest little curls around her ears and one curl on the top of her head... She has the CHUNKIEST legs you've ever seen and I call her my "Chunky Monkey".. She loves to each cheerios, Gerber Graduates cheese puffs, carrot pieces and apple pieces. She HATES mushy baby food, but still thinks the bottle rocks! She says Hi, Bye, Dada, Bubba, Ala (Alex) Baba (bottle) and sometimes Mama. She also says woof to the dogs next door! She is absolutely crazy about her brothers and cracks up when they are around. At ball games, she is everyone's biggest fan......she claps like crazy when the parents start cheering. When we sing "I'm a little teapot" to her she tips over at the waist....it's so cute! She is also a great dancer....when she hears music she starts moving her head and shoulders to the beat.....it's really something to see!!! She loves to swing and go for walks in the stroller. She is funny, independent, sweet , and a little ornery.

OU FOOTBALL CAMP

This last week Alex went to OU Football Camp in Norman. It was a 3 day camp and the boys stayed overnight in the dorms. I have to say I was extremely nervous sending him to the camp. When we signed him up last November I obviously did not completely think through the whole, overnight in the dorms in a college town thing.....but he LOVE LOVE LOVED it!

He went with two of his buds from school. It was a great growing up experience for him....He had to set his alarm and wake up for breakfast and practice. He had to get himself to the cafeteria for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and be responsible for all his own "stuff".... He had to remember to lock his door when he left his dorm room (which was a little difficult since he had never really used a key before!!) He did an incredible job and I am so proud of him......

The OU coaches put on the camp every year for 3rd grade through 8th grade and then on another week for high school....I think it's really neat that all of the OU football coaches show up and teach the boys what they know. Alex got to meet Bob Stoops (and Bob's son was even on Alex's team)....plus he worked directly with Coach Gundy and Coach Veneables....he was a little starstruck!

I left y'all hanging on the whole broken arm thing....it was Nick. He decided to be superman and jump from the highest point of a swing....he can't fly (much to his dismay)...It wasn't too bad a break...He is just in the cast a few weeks. It's a water cast and he hasn't been shy about getting it wet! Swimming, boating, tubing, etc!

In other news.....my little brother Brett graduated from law school....so proud of him!

Kate has decided it is not cool that she has to eat mushy food while everyone else gets the good stuff....She is in complete refusal of all foods baby....But she'll eat the solid stuff all day....soooo...she is now eating her veggies (and fruit and cereal etc) whole...with two teeth...and she loves it!

We had a really fun memorial weekend....spent time with family, had a neighborhood bike parade and swim party, went boating and tubing, and ate crawfish for the first time.... It was fun and relaxing!

Well....that's the news from here....hope y'all are having a great start to your summer....it's gonna be 100 degrees here on Saturday....so I know it's arrived in my neck of the woods!

I took a little trip with the kids to the zoo this week. Our zoo has a new children's petting zoo/area and we wanted to check it out....It was a beautiful day and we had a great time! The kids loved the new stuff....esp. the slide! Brian went down it about 100 times!

Soccer season has ended for Nathan...He was our lone soccer player this spring....It was a good year...he scored a lot of goals, and had a lot of fun...Daddy coached his team and he loved it!

One of Nick's end of the year Kindergarten activities was an alphabet parade....each child in his class got to pick a letter of the alphabet~Nick picked "P".......Then we had to come up with a story (with as many words that began with his letter as possible).... and a costume that went with the story....So Nick was Pete the Pirate...here is the story he came up with:

Pete the pirate lives on a pirate ship in a pool with his parrot Peep, his poodle Pedro and his parents Pam and Paul.

Pete loves to eat peach pancakes covered with lots and lots of pink pepper. Sometimes when he eats his pancakes his purple beard gets full of pepper and it makes him sneeze! AhhhhChoooo!

One night Pete threw a "Walk the Plank" party for all his pals...They all participated in walking the plank...Pete's purple beard washed off, but the party still P-ROCKED!

Yep! Already 7 months old...almost 8!.......and my mom already thinks I'm

T~R~O~U~B~L~E.......

My mom thought my brothers were TROUBLE.....

She thought they were wild....

She thought they were crazy....

She thought they were loud....

She thought they got into things.....

When she thought these things, She had not met ME yet..........

Yes, I know.... I look sweet and innocent.....♥♥

but keep looking....

I like to crawl all over the house.....

I think it's hilarious to try to get those plastic things out of the sockets....

I like to stand up on unstable things .....

I like to put lots of stuff in my mouth.....

I think it's hilarious to make a really high pitched scream

I take every opportunity to pull my brothers hair....

I love watching my kids play...

watching them get dirty...
running around outside,
digging in the dirt,
playing ball,
making mudpies,

dirty faces,

dirty hands,
dirt under their fingernails

stinky feet,
smelling like puppy dogs,

playing hard....

but

there is nothing better than the smell of 5 clean kids
getting into their beds in their sweet little jammies!

Another "I made it!, Monday" dress.....this one is a little bigger and will be worn next spring/summer....I love the blue bird cage fabric....the pants will go with some of the other things I am making for next summer....I'll be showcasing some of the other things I've made around the house later, but for now I'm just "in" to dressmaking! Blessed to love this Beautiful, Big blue-eyed, Drooly...and I do mean drooly, Crawling all over the house, Pulling up on anything in sight, Cruising around the coffee table, Giggling at everything (esp. Daddy), Teething (ouch), Happy-go-lucky, Sweet as sugar, Squealing, Won't let me put bows in her hair anymore because she pulls them out and chews on them, Pink-wearing, Chubby-legged little 7 month old girl.

I Heart Faces 17---SMILES!

This week "I ♥ Faces" is all about the smiles....and this little Easter photo shoot was all about the smiles! They just all look so happy in this picture....It was a great day...the weather was perfect...our church service was amazing, my parents made an awesome Easter Dinner, and the kids had fun on their Easter egg hunt!!! Enjoy!

I Made It!...Monday

I think I've said this before......I'm kind of a crafty person.....(at least I attempt to be).....Awhile back I was introduced to a bunch of amazing crafting/sewing/ etc. blogs and have been hooked ever since.....(you can see some of the crafting blogs I follow on my left sidebar)

My creative outlets change from time to time....sometimes it's scrapbooking, other times it's making jewelry, other times woodworking, and even others home decorating....Right now it's DRESS MAKING! I dragged out my old sewing machine...which subsequently broke(not my fault:) within two days....got a new sewing maching and have been making some clothes for Kate ever since!......(You know in all my free time---- in between baseball and soccer games, driving kids back and forth to school, working out, changing umpteen diapers a day, making meals and well taking care of 5 kids under 8! etc. etc. etc.) So usually I do this in the middle of the night....good thing I don't require a lot of sleep! :)

I haven't done anything like this since 8th grade home economics---and unfortunately (or fortunately because I think of the story often and crack up) The only thing I remember from that class is my best friend trying to make a bathing suit as her first project...ha ha ha (sorry Ash :).., Sooooo, needless to say there has been some trial and error...but it's so much fun!

On a side note, I have to say I love being introduced to this world of girly stuff.....I would never have made a t-shirt and shorts for my boys...but DRESSES...now that I'll make!

So without further ado....Here is the first dress.....Well ,at least the first dress that I am willing to show you :)

This is actually a little halter top for Kate for the 4th of July....I am working on some little blue gingham bloomers to go with it right now.....I'm sure there will be some pictures of little Kate wearing this outfit to show you come about July 5th ☺

Today is the 100th day of school celebration for Nick....He was supposed to bring 100items to share with his class (he brought cheerios) and dress like he is 100 years old.

Here he is dressed up like he is 100....we decided to go with pj's and gray hair.......

Yep, we went with pajamas...cause that is probably what I would want to wear if I was 100 years old..... but we didn't decide on pajamas until after this conversation that we had yesterday on our way home from school.....

Nick: (very enthusiastically) Mom, do I have any sweatpants at home?
Me: Yes, I am sure we do, Why?
Nick: Well, you know tomorrow is our 100th day celebration and I have to dress up like a 100 year old.
Me: Yes I know, but why do you need sweatpants..
Nick: Well that is what old guys wear...
Me: Oh ya, Why do you think that?
Nick: Well Papa wears sweatpants alot...
Me: Yes, you are right, but Papa isn't 100 years old.
Nick: I know he's not 100, but he's the oldest guy I know... ba ding ching

Out of the Christmas Coma~maybe?

Wow!!! It has been a crazy month...... I feel like I went from the new baby coma, to the Christmas coma....and it's taking me awhile to recover!! We have been up to lots of fun around here....Christmas was wonderful, and thanks to the "Blizzard of 2009" here in Oklahoma (yes you can laugh.....we were at a standstill for a week over a foot of snow :)......Anyway, all of our guests got to stay at our house on Christmas Eve and got to spend Christmas morning with us...It was wonderful!!!

Since then we have been running from one basketball game to the next, one soccer game to the next and one school event to the next....it's been wild and fun....OH and we even painted our dining room...which I hate and will be redoing in the near future!!!...In fact Prince Charming told me the other day to "Wake him up when he's 70"....Everything is such a whirlwind right now!!

Christmas Card 2009

I've been putting off taking a picture for the Christmas card for several weeks now...I finally had to give in (time is running short!)....I was dreading the difficulty of getting five kids to look in the direction of the camera, muchless smiling at it!!!.......
Well, they did pretty well, and actually getting them dressed was the most painful part....The first pic I took was the best...but of couse I tortured them with 40 more snaps of the camera :) Ya know, just in case... I love Kate's expression...kinda looks like she's saying "Help me! I'm surrounded by boys!!!!"
